If you haven’t used OneDrive recently, you’re missing out. Microsoft has gradually added a slew of new features that can assist you in backing up personal files and photos over the last few years. In this post, I’ll go over some of the best ways to save and share files and folders in your OneDrive storage.
The benefits are substantial for those of us who use a PC and mobile devices on a daily basis:
- Files can be synchronized between the cloud and a local folder.
- You can access files from multiple devices by using client software that is available for almost any platform.
- Your backed-up files protect you from ransomware by allowing you to recover previously saved versions from the cloud.
- Files, photos, and even entire folders can be easily shared with friends, coworkers, and family members.
OneDrive is not available as a desktop application on Linux. You can access your stored files via the web interface, but the native feel of using cloud storage in the file manager will be lost.
OneDrive Client for Linux
OneDrive Personal, OneDrive for Business, OneDrive for Office365, and SharePoint are all supported by this free Microsoft OneDrive client.
This robust and highly configurable client is available for all major Linux distributions, FreeBSD, and as a Docker container. It supports one-way and two-way sync and connects securely to Microsoft OneDrive services.
This client is a “fork” of the skilion client, which was decommissioned in 2018.
